About me
A plant ecologist active in ecological restoration, I graduated from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2003, where I studied scientific illustration at the Field Museum of Natural History. I have worked on restoration of prairies, savannas, and woodlands in the Chicago Wilderness since 2003. Currently serving as a Restoration Ecologist with Hey and Associates in the Chicago Region, and also active as a volunteer consultant and steward with the Friends of Wolf Run Watershed in Central Kentucky, implementing invasive species control and native plant reintroductions. I have previous experience as the Assistant Director for Southeastern Grasslands Initiative's Seeds of Success Program to create a seedbank for ecotypic safeguarding, as a Consulting Ecologist with Applied Ecological Services, as Woodland Stewardship Coordinator with The Morton Arboretum, and as a Graduate Resident with Illinois Nature Preserves Commission. I studied seed ecology with Dr. Jerry Baskin at the University of Kentucky and for my Master of Science thesis, conducted a study of the native and introduced species of Garrard County, Kentucky under the supervision of Dr. Ronald Jones at Eastern Kentucky University. I am passionate about native plant conservation, propagation, and environmental education.
